This new puzzle is all about going to a concert! What fun is that?!? As you look at this long list of words to find, you'll see that several of the words are intentionally misspelled. You'll need to first fix those spellings, then search for ALL the correctly spelled words in the word search puzzle.

BONUS: Which two of these words also have homophones (as in write/right?) Also find the homophones in the puzzle!

Extension Activities

1. Assign students to work in groups of three. Ask them to list as many different music genres as possible, such as country, rock, classical, etc. Next, ask each group to choose a different genre with which to work for the rest of this exercise.

Make a word list of 20-40 related words, depending on the age and abilities of the students.
Ask students to purposely misspell some words.
Provide students with graph paper so that they can make their own word search puzzle using the words from their musical genre word list, hiding the correctly spelled words. (In other words, follow the pattern I used above.)
When students have finished their work, the teacher should collect all puzzles, check them over, then reproduce them. Distribute them so that all students can solve all the puzzles created by their classmates.

The beauty of this exercise is that it is FUN, it involves cooperative learning, and it provides a LOT of spelling practice!

2. Encourage students to write stories of attending concerts, either from actual or imagined accounts. See how many words from the puzzle word list each student can use in their story. Ask students to read their stories to the rest of the class.

Music Word Search Here's another, very different music word search. It's from my other website, and it features the name of 40 German composers from the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic eras. You can be sure they did not give concerts like they ones you may attend now, but they wrote some timeless music, to be sure!
