Q: Why use printable word scrambles in the classroom?
A: Word scrambles are fun for most students. They enjoy the "puzzling" aspect of trying to find the solution. And, best of all, students practice important spelling skills while they are rearranging letters and forming new words!
Q: What's an easy way to produce more word scrambles of my own?
A: Have your students make them for you! Assign pairs of students to scramble a list of 10 words each. You can assign the word lists, or ask each pair to scour their reading, English, math and science texts for appropriate words! Working together, each pair can scramble the words, double-check their work, make a student page and an answer key. All you need to do is scan and send or photocopy! Simple, eh?
