Word search printable puzzles like this one offers double the fun! This one is really TWO puzzles in one!
First, you must complete the words on the list on the second page by choosing the correct set of missing double letters. When all 42 are complete, then you may locate those words in the word search.
How long will it take you to complete both parts of this double-action puzzler?
For best results, get your own printable version today!
Take a careful look at the word list page below. Full instructions are included on the printable version, along with answers for the word list and the word search printable puzzle.
Both puzzles are a lot of fun, and some learning is bound to happen when you think about all the possible ways some of the words can be completed!
For example, how many ways could you finish these words?
b a _ _ l e d s t u _ _ y d r i _ _ l e
Maybe there are many, but there's only one way to complete every word in the word list using the exact sets of double letters supplied at the top of the page! (Hint: Use a pencil!)
When you've completed the word list, you may look for all 42 words in the word search printable puzzle.
If you get stuck on the word list, you can check your answers for just the word list. It is included in the printable version of the puzzle. Good luck!
1. Assign students to work in pairs to write more sets of double-letter words. Assign one or two letters of the alphabet to each pair. Make a word wall, if you like, of students' answers. Encourage students to continue to add to these lists throughout the week or month.
2. Assign students to work in pairs to create their own word search puzzles using words from one of my grade level word lists. Or ask students to select a topic of their choice such as sports, animals, weather, words with suffixes, seven-letter words, and so on.
Give each team a piece of graph paper on which to work. When word puzzles are finished, the teacher should check them over, make clean copies and share them amongst other students.
3. Encourage students to write sentences using three words from the same column in the word list above. Sentences may be serious or silly.
4. Encourage groups of three students to collaborate to write a paragraph using as many words as possible from the word list. Paragraphs can follow any form of writing of your choice: expository, narrative, descriptive, persuasive, etc.
