Thanksgiving Day Crossword Puzzle: Yum, Yum! You'll almost smell the turkey in the oven as you complete this special crossword, all about the Thanksgiving Day feast, the first Thanksgiving, and traditions of the day. Share with your family, friends and/or students!
1. Assign students to work in pairs for this one. Make a list of items for which you're thankful, trying to list at least one beginning with all or most of the letters of the alphabet. If time allows, make posters illustrating these. Or, create a document on the computer with clipart of your items.
2. Brainstorm together of ways you can give back during this season of Thanksgiving. As a class, can you bring in canned food to give to a local food pantry? At your school, can you bring in socks and gloves to those who might be in need for your counsellors to pass out? Or are there other needs that you can meet?
3. Think about how you can practice gratitude at home. Make Gratitude Cards for a family member, a special friend or a neighbor.
