Extension Activities
1. Write the words ST. PATRICK'S DAY at the top of your paper. Try to spell as many words as possible that are least 4 letters in length.
2. Turn #1 into a contest with three others. Build two teams of two. Each team makes their own list, trying to score as many words as possible, knowing that longer words earn more points. Set a time for 5 or 10 minutes. When time is up, each team scores their own list.
Words of 4 letters = 1 point each; 5 letters = 2 points, 6 letters = 3 points; 7 letters = 4 points, 8 letters or more = 6 points each.
3. Make a St Patrick's Day card for a friend. Wish someone the "Luck of the Irish," "Top of the Morning to You," or another appropriate greeting. Use lots of green shamrocks and other fitting artwork.
