Watch out, because we've underlined extra words in each sentence! You won't be timed, and if you get stuck, just click the "Skip" link underneath the sentence.

Why Can't Spell-check Find Homonym Spelling Mistakes?

Homonyms are sets of 2 or more words that are pronounced the same way, but mean different things. Spell-check can only see if what you've typed is a real word—which homonyms are—but spell-check can't understand the meaning of those words. Fortunately, you can understand the meanings of words, and with practice you can easily spot most homonym spelling mistakes.

The solution? Play our free spelling games based on the actual meaning of the words to train yourself to catch these pernicious spelling mistakes, and start making your resumés, college essays, and applications more professional.
